For the purpose of paying income taxes and obtaining government benefits, every person who earns money is given a Permanent Account Number (PAN), a 10-digit alphanumeric number. Form 49AA for PAN Cards is primarily an application used by non-Indian citizens and non-individual businesses founded outside of India. Individuals can download the application form 49AA online from UTIITSL (UTI Infrastructure and Technology Services Limited), Protean eGov Technologies Limited official website or NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) e-Governance website. People must correctly fill out the form after successfully downloading it, then proceed to make the required payment online. The applicant must fill out the KYC information on PAN Card Form 49AA and then submit the form along with necessary documents.
Both individuals and companies need to fill in the KYC details, however, there are some details which may vary for individuals and non-individuals (companies).

3. Occupation details (private sector, public sector, or self-employed)

1. Type of the company (public, private, non-governmental or charitable organization)
2. Net-worth (assets minus liabilities) in INR
3. Gross annual income in INR
4. If the company is involved in any of the following services – gaming/gambling/lottery services (casinos and betting syndicates) or money lending, pawning, foreign exchange, and money changer services, they need to mention the same in the form.
5. Taxpayer Identification Number or TIN in the residential country.
6. If the entity has few persons or persons of the same family holding beneficial ownership and control.
7. Whether an applicant or his/her authorized trustee or signatory have political involvements.
Form 49AA has 17 sections and a number of subsections to make it easier for applicants to complete the PAN card application. All the information should be filled in English, that too in block letters. It is advisable to use a ball pen instead of an ink one. The list of sections of the form 49AA that need to be filled are listed below:
1. Assessing Officer Code: The first field that the applicant needs to fill is of Assessing Officer that consists of AO Type, Range number, or AO number. You can get information regarding the same from the NSDL website.
2. Full Name: The applicants need to fill in their title such as Mr./Mrs./Ms./ along with their surname, full name, and middle name.
3. Other Name: If the applicant is known by any other names, then he/she has to fill that in this section.
4. Gender: You have to mark your gender carefully from the options provided.
5.Date of Birth: One must enter his/her Date of Birth/Incorporation/Agreement/ Partnership/Association of Person in the next field.
6. Details of Parents: In this particular section, an individual has to fill in the details of his/her parents.
7. Address: You need to fill both residential and office addresses with the necessary details such as name of the premises/building, area, town, city, district, PIN Code, etc.
8. Telephone number and Email address: As the candidate is outside of India, they must provide the ISD code for their phone number. It is also vital for them to provide the country’s name as well as the Zip code. A valid e-mail address needs to be provided for any updates related to the PAN application.
9. Status of the Applicant: Status of the applicant such as Individual/Company/Partnership Firm and others mentioned in the form needs to be tick-marked.
10. Registration Number: If you are a company or a firm, you need to provide the registration number.
11. Country of citizenship: Mention the country of your citizenship in the section provided.
12. Source of Income: Whether it is salary, income from business, income from House property/Capital Gains or no income, one must carefully fill out their source of income.
13. Documents Required: You need to submit all the necessary documents along with the filled PAN application form.
14. KYC Details: It is mandatory to provide KYC details in case of an application filled by a Foreign Institutional Investor or a Qualified Foreign Investor, as prescribed under the regulations issued by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
15. Declaration: In this particular section, you need to fill your name, date, place and signatures/ left thumb impression on the form.
NOTE: You need to fill all the details accurately in the form as inaccurate information may lead to denial of the PAN application.

You can submit the fees for processing the PAN application form via credit card, debit card or net banking.
1. If a physical PAN Card is required, Rs.107/- (including goods & service tax) will have to be paid by the applicant, however, if the PAN card is to be dispatched outside India then additional dispatch charge of 910/- will have to be paid by the applicant.
2. If a physical PAN Card is not required, then an amount of Rs. 72/- (including goods & service tax) will have to be submitted. Applicants will have to mention on the top of the application form “Physical PAN Card not required”. In such cases, email ID will have to be provided to receive e-PAN Card.
If you want a new PAN card with the same PAN data or/and Changes or Correction in PAN data, you can fill out the ‘Request for New PAN Card or/and Changes or Correction in PAN Data’ form available on UTIITSL or NSDL website.
